PULP FICTION

Pulp Fiction is a riot. I feel this movie is one of Quentin Tarantinos best by far. This movie can feel like a roller coaster ride as it has one climatic moment after another. Some scenes get so bizarre they just escalate to the point of insanity. An example would be when one of the main characters has a hit on him forcing him to skip town runs into the man who made the hit, runs him over and gets chased by him with a gun. After, the mayhem spills into a pawnshop where they wind up hostages with the owner and his cop friend ready to make them both sex slaves. In desperation one them escape but decides to come back and free the other even though he placed a hit on his head. Not only does the movie push the limits of believability while keeping the insanity realistic, but it does so with such a authentic touch. Everything from the dialogue to the actors make you can give into the story. Tarantino’s knack for dialogue make scenes intriguing and extremely interesting. The movie itself is a wonderful piece and should be enjoyed by anyone who loves action movies and is up for a good playful story.

The Devil Wears Prada

    This movie is produced by David Frankel. The main characters are Meryl Streep (Miranda Priestly), Anne Hathaway (Andrea Sachs), and Stanley Tucci (Nigel). It is about a young girl, Andrea Sachs, who just freshly graduated from Northeastern University. The movie tells how the naïve, young girl experiences a fashion adventure in her first job after graduation. “She is hired to work as the second assistant of the powerful and sophisticated Miranda Priestly, the ruthless and merciless executive of the Runway fashion magazine”(Carvalho). While working for Miranda Priestly, she faces a big fashion challenge and has to change her attitude and behavior, and even sacrifice her private life to adapt to the needs of her job. Although her boss is the toughest woman in her work experience, working for her is like working for a devil, though she eventually wins her boss’ respect and praise.

     This movie is like a fashion show that guides audiences to have a beautiful fashion journey. This is one of the reason I love this movie. Women who love fashions would love to watch this movie too, because the main actress, Andrea Sachs, as a model shows lots of luxurious brands of cloths, shoes and bags to the audience. This is what most young women dream to have. Each time, her new appearance not only inspires her colleagues, but also inspires and entertains the audience.

     Another reason I love this movie is it expresses a spirit and attitude of stubbornness and activity and that people should not easily give up a challenge and accept failure of work and life. Sometimes, success is just one step away from what we are facing, tolerating, and challenging. The new graduate, Andrea, in this movie expressed these characteristics very well. Through her performances, the movie actually advocates that people, especially young people who just entered society, should realize that life is not easy. The work we are doing would be tough and challenging. However, if we can adjust and balance our attitude and behavior to face those challenges bravely and positively, our future life would be brighter.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno

Summary

Zack Brown and Miriam have been friends since high-school and share an apartment. Despite Zack's employment with 'Bean-N-Gone' Coffee Shop, owned by an East Indian, Surya, they are unable to pay their utilities and end up without hydro and heat. In a reunion party, they find that the former high-school star is now a porn actor, and this inspires them to make a porn film to pay their bills. With their friend Delaney, the couple set out to accordingly hire actors and decide to play lovers themselves in this movie - with hilarious and life changing results. But in the process of filming, they realize they feel more for each other than they had before.

Why I Liked the Movie

Zack and Miri Make a Porno is one of my favorite comedies created by Seth Rogen. The reason I enjoyed the movie so much is because the main characters Zack and Miri seem realistic. They both work dead end jobs barely making ends meet, they have many financial problems and because of this they have only one option to make quick cash making a porno. Not only was that aspect of the movie interesting but the colorful side characters Lester, Delaney and Deacon were hysterical.
Delaney the close friend to Zack and Miri is a laid back, calm, cool, and silly character who makes many funny jokes and references throughout the movie. I enjoyed this character the most because his personality was similar to mine. The other character Lester is a very stupid guy who throughout the movie says many stupid things for example when Zack and Miri finally get the cast for the movie and come up with the porno’s title “Star Whores” Lester says “Holy Shit are we really gonna shoot this in outer space.” The Last character Deacon is a very funny and angry guy who is the camera man for Zack and Miri’s porno he yells a lot and makes vulgar jokes to everyone.

Schindler's List

Schindler’s List is one of my most favorite movies. Many Jewish people were killed by German army During the World War Ⅱ. It is called Holocaust. Oskar Schindler who was a businessman and was attached to the Nazis helped about the 1,100 Jewish people. This movie Schindler’s List is based on the fact.

Steven Allan Spielberg who directed the movie is also a Jewish American. This movie is almost black-white color. Spielberg said that this move should be black-white color because this movie is a historical movie. He thought that the movie could have reality if it is colored black-white.

“Though the film is primarily shot in black-and-white, red is used to distinguish a little girl in a coat. The red coat symbolizes the fact that Oskar Schindler has now opened his eyes to the cruelty which the Nazis are comitting on the Jews. Later in the film, she is seen dead, recognizable only by the red coat she is still wearing (Wikipedia, Schindler’s List).”The scene gave the audiences a huge impact, and the audiences remained the scene with the red color.

Schindler’s List was nominated 12 departments of Academy Awards in 1993 and won 7 departments of Academy Awards in the year such as Academy Award for Best Motion Picture of the Year, Academy Award for Best Picture, Academy Award for Best Motion Picture of the Year, Academy Award for Best Picture, Academy Award for Writing Adapted Screenplay, Academy Award for Film Editing, Academy Award for Best Art Direction, and Academy Award for Original Music Score.

Before Spielberg made Schindler’s List, the movie critics and the essayists commented that Spielberg was just an excellent filmmaker for entertainment, even though he made the movie Empire of the Sun and The Color Purple were serous movies. Empire of the Sun and The Color Purple were not evaluated well. The movie Schindler’s List was for Spielberg to won the first Academy Award for Directing.

My most favorite scene is that Schindler who is the main character realizes something about his wrong. He had the list such as Schindler’s List and cries. He thought that he could help much more Jewish people by his money that he earned. The music in movie is beautiful. Whenever I listen to the music, I think that I should be modesty to others.

If you never have watched the movie Schindler’s List, you should immediately go to the video rental shop near your house. You may realize something about your wrong in your life.
